As the school year kicks off, our routines start to fall back into place: waking up early, getting ready, driving to school, and attending extracurricular activities.
With all these daily tasks, it’s easy for the day to blur by. However, as parents, we have the opportunity to be intentional in discipling our kids even amidst these routines.
An example of a simple yet impactful way to connect with your children is during the car ride home from school or around the dinner table at the end of the day. Use these moments to engage with them, listen to their experiences, and respond to any challenges they might have faced—whether it’s about a teacher, a classmate, or a school project.
Sometimes, the conversation might revolve around the specifics of their day—and that’s perfectly fine! But other times, you may find that these discussions naturally lead to deeper, spiritual conversations. This is a prime opportunity to guide your children through the daily ups and downs, helping them see God’s presence in every moment.
We are reminded in Deuteronomy 11:19 to “Teach them [God’s commandments] to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”
Let's make the most of these everyday moments.
