About the Author

Riley Gaines

Riley Gaines is a women’s rights activist, speaker, and 12-time All-American swimmer from the University of Kentucky, where she was also a two-time Olympic Trial Qualifier and five-time SEC Champion. A nationally recognized advocate for fairness and American values, Gaines regularly appears in national media, speaks across the country, and meets with lawmakers to defend opportunities for women and girls. She is the author of Swimming Against the Current, Happy No Snakes Day, and her newest children’s book with BRAVE Books, 1, 2, 3, We Are Free!

The book itself isn’t autographed

"My first complaint is that the book itself isn’t actually autographed by Riley. It’s a sticker that’s autographed and stuck in the book. So, it’ll be easily picked off by a toddler. Disappointed as I thought the actual book itself would be autographed. I feel like it should have been advertised as a sticker placed in the book that’s signed. My second complaint is that I pre-ordered this book April 2026 and it was advertised to be here before Americas 250. Not once did I receive any communication regarding shipping times. I had to reach out 3 or 4 times and it kept getting delayed and that’s fine but you need to communicate that — not wait until the consumer feels the need to reach out. … and it didn’t even make it before Americas 250. However, the boom itself is cute and wonderful. We love Riley. I just hope she sees this and maybe makes it logistically possible to actually sign the books next time instead of stickers. Or she uses somewhere else besides Brave Books."
